Hello,

Both of the games I've just started have players addressing each other under pseudonyms with our actual titles. England went the furthest, creating a whole internal power struggle. I think this really enhances the game and am currently thinking about extending is further. Now of course, the rules wouldn't change, but flavorful things like the player that has the most supply centers/territories on a given turn gets to host the world fair. Or maybe a message or two in public chat from America. In fact, having someone to adjudicate these actions could be great. A kind of game master, but not quite. What do you think? A step too far? Not enough? Give your opinion.

Why are fantasy games marketed as Role Playing Games?

Hello,

This is something that has bothered me for awhile. Games like Dungeon Siege or Diablo (both of which I really like) being called RPGs. Is this because they involve swords, monsters, and magic? There is nothing really role playing about Dungeon Siege. As much as I have fun playing it, this is one of the most linear games I have ever played, and has an almost complete lack of storyline. To me, they doesn't really seem to be in the same realm as the Elder Scrolls series, Fallout (1 & post-patch 2), or any of the older high fantasy RPGs. I have nothing against hack and slash adventure games, but that is all they are. Throwing a ton of items and spells does not an RPG make! So Why are they marketed as RPGs? Is it a marketing ploy to use a nice buzzword, or are these people really not understanding that style of play, and not setting is what determines the genre of a game?

TextEdit doesn't see images in XP RTF files

Hello,

I've got some article clippings with embedded images that were saved as RTF on XP's NotePad (or WordPad). These files get read by TextEdit but without the images displayed. The file sizes indicate that the images are embedded. So what gives?
Anyone know of a freeware reader that can deal with NotePad saved image embedded RTF files? By the way, I tried to see if it was as simple as changing the .rtf extension to .rtfd, but no dice. Operative word is freeware! The images aren't that important to me.

WIFI connects, no internet access.

Hello,

I am trying to configure an edimax EW-7811Un, and I have gotten it to connect to my network. I can SSH into it over wifi, as well as access terminal from my PC. However, the Pi has no internet connectivity. Any ideas why it may be connecting to my wifi but not getting connected to the internet?
I can successfully scan for networks, and all in-rang networks appear. In addition, iwconfig shows wlan0 present, and after turning on my adapter (after boot) using sudo ifup wlan0, I can even see that it is connected to the wifi via the pi. Furthermore, I can see its connectivity via my router. All configuration has been done over SSH via a wire connection. Running Raspbmc RC3.

Any help will be apprecited.

Why did Vados pick Cabba?

Hello,

Getting down to business immediately. I was wondering ever since I watched the latest episode, why Vados picked Cabba to fight in the tournament. Cabba doesn't seem to have any 'special powers' like Botamo or Magetta (durability) and isn't nearly as strong as Frost or Hit in his base form (which was implied and revealed to have been his maximum potential before he went ssj). We see in his fight againt Vegeta that he is roughly equal to Vegeta in his base form. It is also revealed that Vegeta wasn't yet channeling his God Ki as he was saving it for later.
This leads me to assume that Cabba = equal to base (normal not God) Vegeta which on a universal scale should be? dare I say? weak? In conclusion I would like to think that Cabba isn't the strongest Saiyan on his planet and there are those who are stronger. Perhaps those were invited first but didn't accept the offer. And I hope they can at least turn ssj, and that it is just Cabba who doesn't know anything about the form.

Hello,

Is there any way of knowing just what a licensed 'vado permanente' (right of way) covers? Is it just that there should be clear access through an entrance to the property, or that an area covering the frontage big enough to park a car must be free at all times?

DoW Dark Crusade Lan issues

Hello,

I am having a strange issue with Dawn of War Dark Crusade. My friends and I have been getting together occasionally for months now to play this game and have had no issues via lan play. I setup the game on my pc (XP) and one of my friends jumps in on my wife's pc (XP) and another friend of mine uses his laptop (XP). My wife recently got a new pc (Vista), and now only one or the other can connect when I create a game for lan play. We are all running the same version of the game but once one of the pc's connects to the game, the other one gets a message stating that they were refused by the host. So if the only thing that has changed is the OS of one of the machines, it stands to reason that I am missing a setting in Vista to allow both machines to connect to the game. Anyone offer any help on this?

Ok sorry for the odd subject, but I wasn�t sure how to get the most people looking at this with out being very vague. Network issues are not my forte, but since I am the office �computer guy� I get called in when something or someone screws something up. Our network here in house has a central server connected to the internet by DSL to a wireless router/modem (netopia). Not counting the server there are four desktops hardwired to the router/modem. Since there are only four ports on the back one of the ports is used to run to another wireless router (linksys). Two other computers access the network wirelessly. All the hardwired desktops must connect to the server to use a centralized scheduling program. I have yet to see any of the desktops fail to connect to the server and be useable. The problem comes from the fact that several of the desktops have intermittent Internet access. They will be able to connect, but after a period of time (nothing specific) they will quit. Sometimes the connection comes back, but most times the computer in question is rebooted and the connection is reestablished. It doesn�t happen to all of them at the same time. The server NEVER loses connection to the Internet, and the computers that connect wirelessly never lose an Internet connection. While the Internet is inaccessible these computers can still talk to the server. This is what puzzles me. If one computer can�t get to the internet none of the other computers should be able to get to the internet, correct? That would mean it is a ISP problem. If all but one can get to the internet shouldn�t that one not be able to talk to the server? That would be a cable or router issue, correct? It just doesn�t make sense. Any thoughts?

Screen turns white/vertical lines

Hi,

So I left my phone on charge overnight, and when I picked it up in the morning there were weird white lines on the screen. These lines disappear when I lock the screen/turn the screen off, but after turning it back on and using it to say, text, the lines come back until the entire screen is lighter in colour (apart from around the edges). Again, turning the screen on and off gets rid of them but they come back. I havent dropped my phone recently either, I've only had it for about a mont. Thanks in advance for any help!
